Laura Parker, Soprano, grew up in Southern California and has built a vibrant career spanning opera, oratorio, concerts, musical theater, and musical improvisation. Her regional credits include performances with LA Opera, Long Beach Opera, Lyric Opera of San Diego, and OperaWorks. She has also appeared as a guest artist with the San Diego Symphony, Redlands Symphony, and Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra.

Beyond California, Laura has performed in New York with Dicapo Opera, Liederkranz Opera Theatre, and Beth Morrison Projects, and internationally in London, Italy, Germany, and St. Maarten.

A specialist in operatic improvisation, Laura blends her classical vocal training with a background in theatrical improv. She studied improvisation at Magnet Theater, iO West, UCB, and Second City Hollywood, and has musically improvised with OperaWorks at the Classical Singer National Convention, Opera America, the Hollywood Ford Amphitheater, and in a Facebook Live ad for Tinder.

Since 2015, Laura has been on the faculty of OperaWorks, where she teaches improvisation and the Alexander Technique. She has also taught musical theater voice at AMDA, Hussian College, and Studio School in Los Angeles.

She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the Voice Foundation, and holds vocal performance degrees from Boston University (BM, Summa cum laude, Pi Kappa Lambda) and the University of Southern California (Marilyn Horne Scholarship).
